Mission and Judges
The American Movie Awards was founded to help drive the creative, technical, and professional progress of the independent film industry as well as to discover and recognize new talent and standout achievement in filmmaking and screenwriting from across the world. The purposes and missions of the American Movie Awards are:
- To recognize and honor excellence in the independent filmmaking and screenwriting industry across a broad array of competition categories.
- To connect a diverse group of filmmakers, screenwriters, and industry leaders and professionals to facilitate continued growth and development in the independent film industry.
- To educate industry professionals and the public-at-large about what is relevant and contemporary in independent film and integrating it into the general culture.
The Associate Members of the Official Jury of the American Movie Awards are former and current film and entertainment industry professionals and film experts with experience in the business, creative, and technical facets of independent filmmaking. Associate members are invited to take part in Round 1 Judging, the initial phase of the American Movie Awards evaluation process.
The Executive Members of the Official Jury of the American Movie Awards include current industry professionals including directors, actors, screenwriters, executives, public relations experts, and other industry professionals.
